Description
The Department of Natural Science provides a career-oriented approach to pre-professional preparation in the health sciences, a liberal arts and sciences approach to environmental health and sustainability, a hands-on approach to education in the laboratory and through student research, and preparation to meet the Kansas State Department of Education standards for teaching licensure in biology and chemistry.
We offer majors in biochemistry, biology, chemistry and environmental stewardship as well as minors. See our Catalog for program and course descriptions (http://www.mcpherson.edu/academics/catalog-schedule/ ).
Working together with their faculty advisor, all majors design and conduct an independent research project. Recent student projects have included working at the Land Institute on the breeding of a perennial grain crop, and in Puerto Rico on both spider diversity and human impacts on tropical forest ecology.
